FoldTone is made by doguapps, operated by Okan Doğu BUDAK. You can contact us at contact@doguapps.com. Our website is https://foldtone.app.

Your folders stay on your Mac

FoldTone never sends your folders, folder names, folder paths, file names, file contents, or your own images to doguapps. Coloring folders, the Designer, templates, and applying icons all work on your Mac, without an internet connection. FoldTone has no account system, advertising, or tracking, and no third-party analytics.

What the app accesses on your Mac

When you choose or drop a folder or a drive, macOS grants access to it. FoldTone stores a security-scoped bookmark so it can keep that access after a restart, together with the folder path, appearance settings, and modification dates, in files inside the app's own storage. Folder paths and the names and small previews of your newest designs are shared locally with the FoldTone Finder extension to show its shortcut menu.

Smart Content Badges read the names of items directly inside a chosen folder, never document contents. The storage bar and item count add up file sizes and count items in the background; the numbers stay on your Mac. Fade When Inactive uses folder modification dates. Automatic Rules look at the names of new folders inside folders you added, to style the ones that match. Paste Image reads your clipboard only when you ask for it. Zen Mode, if you turn it on and grant your Desktop folder, sets and clears the standard hidden flag; nothing is moved or deleted.

AI features (only when you use them)

When you create a design with AI or use Improve, FoldTone sends your description and the options you picked (style, quality, folder color, placement) to our server, which runs on Google Cloud (Firebase) in a European Union region. The server passes them to Google's Gemini API to check the request is safe and to draw the image (Google processes them under its API terms), then sends the image back. We do not store or log your descriptions or the generated images on our server. The finished design is saved on your Mac.

To keep track of your AI credits, daily limits and purchases, the app creates a random identifier the first time you use AI and keeps it in your Mac's keychain. It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple Account. With it, our server stores your credit balance, a record of credits added and spent, how many requests you made today, and how many requests were turned down by the safety check today.

Ratings and reports: if you give a result a thumbs up, we receive the rating and the options used. If you report a problem, we also receive the reason, your description, any note you write, and a small preview of the result, so we can improve FoldTone and remove anything that should not have been made.

Genuine app check: when FoldTone talks to our server, Apple's DeviceCheck service confirms the request comes from the real FoldTone app (Firebase App Check). This shares no personal information with us. If FoldTone finds that a copy was modified or was not bought from the App Store, it sends a short reason code, which we only count.

Purchases

Apple handles payment; we never receive your payment details. FoldTone uses StoreKit to show prices, verify FoldTone Pro, restore purchases, and notice refunds. When you buy credits or Pro, the app sends Apple's signed record of that purchase (transaction ID, product, and date) to our server to add the credits once. To download Premium template sets, the app sends Apple's signed record of your Pro purchase so the server can confirm it.

Crash reports

If FoldTone crashes, freezes, or runs slowly, macOS collects a report (Apple MetricKit). FoldTone sends these reports to our server with your Mac model, macOS version, FoldTone version, language, and whether Pro is active, so we can fix problems. They contain no name, account, identifier, files, or folders. You can turn this off in Settings > General > Diagnostics. Apple may also share crash reports with us through App Store Connect if you allow that in your Mac's settings.

iCloud

iCloud sync is off unless you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, FoldTone stores your saved designs (without their pictures), storage thresholds, and default style in your own iCloud account so your other Macs can use them. Your folders, paths, bookmarks, and icons are not synced.

Keeping and deleting data

Data on your Mac stays until you delete it in FoldTone or remove the app. Exported designs and backups are stored wherever you choose. On our server, credit and purchase records are kept while you use AI and as required for accounting; crash reports and problem reports are deleted once they are no longer needed, and at the latest after 12 months. Daily counters are kept in aggregate only. You can ask us to delete the server data linked to your FoldTone identifier by writing to contact@doguapps.com; because the identifier is anonymous, include the Mac you use and roughly when you used AI, or the purchase receipt.

Support and other services

If you email us, we receive your address, message, and any attachments, and use them only to answer you. Opening our website, Apple's license agreement, or your email app is your choice; those services follow their own privacy policies.

Changes

If FoldTone's data practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date. Questions: contact@doguapps.com.

This Website

The app itself collects nothing. This website counts page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, does not track individual visitors and stores no personal data. It only tells me how many people visit and which pages they read.
